Our Mission & Vision

We believe that every person is a precious creation and is the object of love and grace.

We believe that all people are to be treated with respect. We recognize the importance of cultural and spiritual values as we establish helping relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. We seek to express our personal and professional values in a manner that is sensitive to and respectful of the rights, needs, and experiences of others. We practice the use of non-discriminatory and inclusive language in all our communications.

We believe that people are generally doing the best they can in their relationships, given their own experiences and the unique circumstances of their lives. From this operational assumption, when we identify a problem in family functioning that is detrimental to any individual’s safety, we make every appropriate effort to assist those involved in correcting the problem, including notifying authorities where mandated/permitted by law.

We believe in personal and ethical standards that reflect our humanistic responsibility to our patients, seeking our own consultation and/or therapy when personal issues arise. We comply with the code of ethics set out for counseling professionals, including the expectation of confidentiality and the avoidance of multiple relationships with patients. We expect counseling relationships to be non-exploitive in every aspect.

Our Focus

TRAINING THERAPISTS

PCC is a highly regarded training agency for masters level therapists.

SUPPORTING STUDENTS

PCC specializes in psychotherapy with students from elementary school age through college. We are also trained in working with individuals, couples, and families. Services can be provided in English, Spanish, and Hmong.

INTEGRATING FAITH

PCC therapists are trained in the integration of faith in therapy. We work with the whole person - body, mind, and spirit.

PCC therapists respect the diversity of our community and welcome clients of all faiths or no faith. PCC does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or disability.

EDUCATING THE COMMUNITY

PCC clinicians are subject matter experts who offer workshops and trainings for churches, schools, and community organizations. We also participate in community events focused on mental health.

SERVING THE VALLEY

PCC is the only counseling agency in southeast Fresno. With four locations, multiple contracted partners, and the option for telehealth, we are committed to making therapy is accessible to our clientele.

Our Story

Originally called The On-Site Counseling Program, Pacific Counseling Center (PCC) was established in 1994 as a training organization for Marriage and Family Therapy students at Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary (now Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary). Services were primarily provided on-site at contracted locations in Fresno and the surrounding areas. After the seminary merged with Fresno Pacific University in 2010, PCC became the university’s therapy provider.

PCC expanded from a few student clinicians to nearly 65 by 2017. In 2021, contracts with schools shifted due to new student support models following the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting PCC to focus on serving FPU students and the public at on-campus counseling offices.

In 2024, after 30 years and training over 420 clinicians, the program was renamed Pacific Counseling Center. PCC continues to provide high-quality services to the community as we train future therapists.
